A lark sings  from an unseen perch    somewhere in the rough grass
The squall hits        a chocolate labrador   comes to explore
Crows criss-cross the grassland below me

Down the hill  down the wind      comes the traffic noise
From nowhere   golden plover lift   a skylark     and then the merlin

Two runners    two cars          one plane
In the sunshine    a blue tit calls      and a nuthatch responds
Pushed by tree roots         the kerb stones billow down the street

A secret pond     an island bench    tucked behind a hazel coppice
Bee hives    quiet in the chill morning
